2007 Demolition Derby RulesNo Free Admissions General Rules ONE CAR PER ENTRY1. All entrants must be at least 18 years of age or older. Any participant under 18 years of age must have a parent sign a release at the Senior Fair Office. All drivers must have a valid driver's license, which is not under suspension. 2. Any American hardtop cars, including station wagons are allowed. Chrysler Imperials, convertibles or cars with Chrysler Imperial sub frames, Trucks, Jeeps, 4x4's and hearses are not allowed. (No Wedging) 3. Proof of ownership must accompany each car entered in the derby. 4. Cars must be removed from the grounds within 24 hours following the event or the car will be towed away at the owner's expense. 5. No cars will be permitted in the competition arena before their assigned hear. 6. The pit area will be open for pre-derby inspection at 10:00 a.m. on the day of the event. 7. All entrants must be in the pit area by 3:00 p.m. 8. All decisions by the Derby Officials are final!! 9. The first heat will start promptly at 6:00 p.m. 10. The entry fee will be $40.00. The entry fee must be paid in full at the time of registration. 4 crew members will be allowed in with each car. $10.00 a person to get in as pit crew and the fair. 11. No entry fees will be returned to entrants found to have an illegal car. 12. The Erie County Agricultural Society reserves the right to accept or reject any or all entries. 13. The Erie County Agricultural Society or any of its members will not be held responsible for injuries or damage to cars, entrants, mechanics or car owners. 14. Prizes are as follows: Feature $1000.00; 2nd place-$450.00; 3rd place - $100.00; Split $100.00 for heats; Split $100.00 in free-for-all. Cash Money. Free -for-all winners will advance to the feature. The top three feature winning cars will be inspected after the derby. 15. All drivers must attend the driver's meeting with the time and location to be announced. 16. No one under 16 years old is allowed in the pit area (picture I.D.). The driver and derby car will be disqualified until the following year if anyone associated with the driver and car is caught in the pit area without a wristband and/or under 16 years of age. 17. No 2-way radios allowed. 18. Only drivers may file a protest. A protest fee of $250.00 (CASH ONLY) will be required before the Derby officials will take further action. If the car being protested is found to be LEGAL, the driver of that car will be able to keep the protest money. If the car being protested is found to be ILLEGAL, the driver of that car will lose all money and finishing positions and the protest money will be returned to the protester. Derby officials' decision is final. DRIVING RULES1. When a car becomes disabled, the drivers are to remain in their cars, with helmets on. 2. Any car sitting still, during a heat, form more than 60 seconds will be disqualified. 3. If one or more wheels of the car go over a barrier, the car will be disqualified. 4. No driver's door or head-on hits will be allowed. (This will be explained at the driver's meeting.) 5. The last 2 cars remaining in a heat will qualify for the Feature. A heat will be complete when only 2 cars are still running. Feature qualifiers will be put in a holding cell at the end of each heat. After the free-for-all will be the time for the cars to be released from the holding cell and you can work on your cars. Anyone found in holding cell before hand will be disqualified. 6. NO SANDBAGGING!! If an official believes any driver is sandbagging or laying back to gain an advantage, the officials will black flag the car and the derby will be stopped. The the car will be painted with an orange X. 7. Any car catching fire or spilling fuel, during a heat, will be reinspected. If the problem is able to be fixed, the car will be allowed back in for the free-for-all. 8. Drivers MUST wear crash helmets with eye protection. 9. Drivers MUST wear long sleeved shirts and long pants during their heat. NO shorts allowed. 10. No hot-rodding in the pit or staging area. Driver will be disqualified. 11. NO ALCOHOL ALLOWED ON THE FAIRGROUNDS OR IN THE PIT AREA. Any driver or crew member found drinking alcohol will disqualify the car and they will be removed from the fairgrounds. 12. Failure of the driver or vehicle to adhere to any of the rules will result in a disqualification. 13. No car shall enter the arena after the green flag and before the checkered flag. FRAME-SUSPENSION-BUMPERS1. Frame seams my be welded. No extra metal may be added to the frame in any way. Frame may be drilled if it is believed it has any added metal. 2. No welding of the leaf springs allowed. Only 4 clamps allowed - 2 in front of axle and 2 behind axle. No tape on the springs. 3. No modified shock absorbers. 4. Stock chassis only. 5. Absolutely, no bumper reinforcing allowed. 6. Bumper shocks may be collapsed and welded. Bumper shocks may be welded to the frame and the bumper. This is highly recommended. 7. Bumper ends may be cut off. 8. No trailer hitches. 9. The cars suspension must have movement. CAR BODY1. Driver's door may be reinforced for driver protection. Any driver's door reinforcing will not protrude beyond the driver's door. 2. A four (4) bar interior cage is highly recommended. This consists of one (1) bar along the dash above the steering column; one (1) bar no more than twelve inches (12") behind the driver's seat; and two (2) bars connecting the dash bar to behind the seat bar along each door. Bars may be made of no more than four inch (4") OD tubing; and mounting plates for the tubing may not exceed a six inch (6") x six inch (6") square. Do NOT attach any part of this cage to the frame or floor of the car. No cast pipe allowed. NO EXCEPTIONS!! 3. Doors may be welded or strapped. Straps of four inches (4") or less in width. 4. All glass, lenses, chrome etc. must be removed from the car before entering the fairgrounds. 5. Removal of the windshield is optional. 6. Hoods are to remain attached to their hinges. 7. No welding of the hoods allowed. The hoods are to be secured further by either two (2) or four (4) hood pins that are 3/4" and not bigger. Wire or chains will be allowed. If wired or chained, you can do so in 6 places, 4 to sheetmetal to sheetmetal , 2 to bumper. (Not to Frame) 8. Deck lids must be wired only, and must be able to open for inspection. #9 wire may be doubled and may be wired in 6 places - 4 to sheetmetal to sheetmetal and 2 to bumper. (Not to Frame) 9. The trunk and interior of the car must be clean of debris. 10. No weight, of any kind, may be added to the car. 11. Cutting fenders for wheel clearance is allowed. Absolutely no bolting of fenders to wheel wells will be allowed! 12. Numbers must be painted, as large as possible, on the car roof and both front doors. If we cannot see your number, we cannot score you. 13. Any sharp protruding fins or objects on cars must be removed. 14. Bolting of quarter panels is illegal. 15. If windshield is removed from car, a chain or wire must attach from the center front of the roof, to the center top of the firewall for safety. 16. The hoods must have a twelve-inch (12") hole or bigger cut in the middle to allow quick extinguishing of fire. 17. Driver's door must be painted white or outlined in another color if the car is white. 18. No offensive or obscene language will be permitted on the car. 19. All holes in the firewall or floor larger than one inch (1") must be covered. Anything bigger must be covered. No removal of firewall. 20. All passenger seats in the back of wagons must be removed! 21. You will only be able to use (3/4") body bolts. Washers no bigger than (3") standard washer thickness. If you remove body mounts, you must repalce with a one (1) inch spacer between the body and frame. No body seams can be welded or bolted. 22. No painting or undercoating the inside of cars. ENGINE - EXHAUST1. Engines may be changed from car to car (GM to Ford, Ford to Chrysler, etc.) Engines can be welded or chained in. 2. If the exhaust is routed out of the hood, the exhaust must point straight up. 3. Transmission coolers may be used inside of the care. They have to mounted behind the driver on the passenger side of the car. If you choose to use ice I suggest to use a metal container because if we have to stop the heat to see what is leaking out of your car, (gas or water) you will be black flagged. 4. All cars will have the air cleaner secured to the carburetor. FUEL SYSTEMS1. The gas tank must be removed from under the car and secured in the rear seat area with a metal tank no larger than 5 gallons. (NO PLASTIC) 2. Gas tanks must be vented through the car roof and tank must be covered (carpet, floor-mat, etc.) 3. Any car spilling gas, during a heat, will be disqualified. 4. Electric fuel pumps will be allowed on cars that used electric fuel pumps as original equipment. Electric fuel pumps must have an on/off switch located on the dash, clearly marked with red or orange paint. COOLING SYSTEM1. Radiators must remain in original position. No reinforcing of core supports. 2. No antifreeze is allowed in the cooling systems. THIS IS A AUTOMATIC DISQUALIFICATION. No reinspection. 3. ALL REFRIGERANTS MUST BE REMOVED FROM THE VEHICLES!! TIRES1. Any 15" tire. 2. No chains allowed. 3. No studded snow tires allowed 4. No liquid filled tires allowed. 5. The use of tire tubes will be permitted. 6. No screwing tires to rims, or tire inside of tire. 7. The above rules will be strictly enforced. ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS1. Batteries must be remounted in driver's compartment. 2. Batteries must be securely fastened to the floor. 3. Only one original stock type battery allowed. ALL HEATS WILL BE DRAWN OUT OF A BOX BY THE DRIVER AFTER HE/SHE PASSES INSPECTION. RULE CHANGES FOR 2008 DEMOLITION DERBY 1. ABSOLUTELY NO SEAM WELDING ON FRAME. FRESH OR PRE RUN CARS. 2. HOODS WILL BE WIRED ONLY. YOU MAY USE #9 WIRE AND WIRE IN 6 PLACES, 4 TO SHEET METAL TO SHEET METAL AND 2 TO BUMPER NOT TO FRAME. COMPACT TRUCK RULES AND REGULATIONS1. Any 2-wheel drive mini truck. (NO full size trucks allowed. No Blazers, SUVs, 4X4's, El Caminos, or Stake bed trucks allowed.) If any questions call. 2. No V-8 motors allowed! Just 4 and 6 Cylinder. 3. Remove all chrome and plastic from truck. 4. Remove all glass and flammable materials from inside of truck. No loose debris in cab or box of trucks! (Dashboard removal is optional) 5. Dash bar - three inch (3") diameter pipe maximum. A six inch (6") x six inch (6") x 1/8" thick plate may be used at each end. 6. Must have working brakes! 7. Radiators must stay in stock location, or completely removed. 8. NO Body lifts or Suspension lifts allowed. 9. Batteries must be moved in the passenger compartment. Must be completely covered and secured. 10. The stock gas tank must be removed and relocated in the center of truck bed towards the front of the bed. If electric pump is used, it must have a kill switch and painted orange. It must be covered and secured tightly. No stock tanks. 11. Hoods must have a twelve inch (12") hole cut out. 12. All trailer hitches must be removed. 13. No double tires, no studs in tires, no tires bigger than 15" 6 ply. No split rims 14. Suspension must be stock. MUST HAVE BOUNCE!!! 15. Bumpers are allowed to be welded on. (THIS IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.) Any car bumper may be used as long as stock brackets are still used. Bumpers have to be cut down to width of tyruck! (That's if a car bumper is used). No push bars or grill guards allowed. NO REINFORCING OF THE BUMPERR WHAT SO EVER!!! 16. Welding of frames is allowed. 17. All holes in frewall larger than three inches (3") must be covered! 18. Transmission coolers must stay under hood. 19. Rear ends maybe welded. 20. Factory beds only with no stake beds, or flat beds, or dump beds allowed. Beds may be welded to the cab with three (3) peices of strap (1/8") thick x three inches (3") x six inches (6"). 21. Hoods may be bolted shut with 3/4 bolts in four locations. Tailgates may be welded shut. 22. Doors maybe welded or chained or wired shut. Driver's door may be reinforced on the inside of truck 1/8" thick metal used if welded and no wider than 3". 23. Body mounts must stay intact. Bolts may be changed to 3/4" bolts only. 3" washers may be used. 24. Bar must be welded in center of front window, from firewall to the top of window. FULL SIZE TRUCKSAny 2 wheel drive truck ( No vans, 4x4s, SUVs, El Caminos or Stake Bed Trucks) All other rules are in the Erie County Compact Truck Rules except you are allowed to run 8 cylinder. COMPACT CARS1. Compact cars must have no more than a 105" wheel base. 2. No v-8 motors will be allowed in compact cars. Only 4 and 6 cylinder motors permitted. 3. Compact cars are subject to all of the same rules and regulations as the regular cars. 4. Electric fuel pumps must hav a clearly marked on/off (with red or orange paint) switch located inside the car. DERBY BALLSunday, Aug. 12 @ 1:00 p.m. All Erie County Demolition Derby Rules apply to Erie County Derby Ball. Exceptions are as follows. 1. Frame seams may be welded. (No loading of frames what so ever.) 2. You my plate frame from firewall forward. (Factory holes in frame must not be covered.) 3. You may reinforce bumper. (Please do not take this to the extreme.) 4. You may run 2 kicker bars from the firewall forward. 5. Imperials are allowed. This is not a Demolition Derby. If your hits are too aggressive your team will be disqualified. The object is to get the ball in your goal. Ball starts in the middle of the arena, and your cars will start at your end of the goal. You then must go around the ball before you can hit it. There is a time limit, which will be discussed at the drivers meeting with the rest of the basic rules. Two cars per team. THESE RULES SUPERCEDE ANYAND ALL RULES PREVIOUSLY USED. RULES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE ACCORDING TO ERIECOUNTY DEMOLITION DERBY COMMITTEE.
